Contrast and Confrontation

By David Swank, CREC CEO - Our nation is quickly changing and presenting leaders with the difficult task of confronting new challenges. It is not a time for leaders to take a backseat, but now, more than ever, leaders must begin to rethink paradigms and create new solutions to combat the growing contrasts of our time.

People often become blinded by their inability to see the need for change. However, in our fast-evolving world, complacency is not an option. This presents a challenging question: How do leaders help people see the needed change?

The answer to this question is provided in the book It Starts with One by J. Stewart Black and Hal B. Gregersen. It focuses on two solutions: contrast and confrontation. Suddenly, we are beginning to see paradigms shift and old business models are failing. People must be able to confront these contrasts and rethink existing models in order to prepare for our dynamic future.

Central Rural Electric Cooperative will host the third annual regional Leadership Summit on Tuesday, December 7 at the Wes Watkins Center on the Oklahoma State University campus. We hope you will join leaders from throughout the region as we rethink leadership and begin to propel our region into this new age of shifting paradigms.

Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett will be featured as the keynote speaker. Mayor Cornett has been at the forefront of the Oklahoma City renaissance, setting forth a vision that the people of Oklahoma City have embraced time and again. His philosophy will provide great insight as to how we can advance our communities and enhance our region.

We hope you will join us as we rethink leadership and confront the contrasts of our time. Please visit www.leadershipsource.coop to register or for more information.
