At an early age, I was told to listen more and talk less. I never fully understood the importance of this lesson until I worked for Central Rural Electric Cooperative. Today, I have a greater understanding of why I was given two ears and only one mouth: so I may listen twice as much.

The second annual regional Leadership Summit will be held Tuesday, December 1, 2009. The one-day Summit will be held at the Wes Watkins Center on the Oklahoma State University Campus in Stillwater. The Summit seeks to bring together leaders in the community, business, education and faith-based/non-profit economical sectors from students to CEOs of companies and presidents of universities.

Leadership Cushing is a nine week adult leadership program. The goal of the program is to build an adult resource of community leadership on a continuing basis. Identifying potential leaders and preparing them for positions of community involvement and civic leadership is one objective of the program.
